Bumper Bar FAQ

What flavours are there?

Bumper Bars come in four flavours; Apricot Chocolate, Raspberry White Chocolate, Banana Chocolate and Wildberry Chocolate

What do you mean by real chocolate?

We only use real chocolate in our Bumper Bars. Some competitor products use compound chocolate instead of ‘real’ chocolate. Compound chocolate is a less-expensive chocolate replacement made with vegetable fat instead of cocoa butter. The vegetable fat in chocolate compound is often palm oil based.

Do you add palm oil to Bumper Bars?

No, we do not add palm oil to the product. We mostly use butter with a very small amount of canola oil.

Are they gluten-free?

No.

Do they have nuts?

No, but they are made in a facility that does process nuts. Also, some of the ingredients are processed on lines that also process nuts.

Are there any preservatives?

We do not directly add preservatives to our Bumper Bars, however there may be trace amounts of sulphites in the glucose syrup and coconut we use. The dried fruit in the Apricot Chocolate and Banana Chocolate bars also contain sulphites to maintain their natural colour.

Do they contain allergens?

Bumper Bars contain milk and soy products, sulphites, sesame seeds and gluten-containing cereal products. Tree nuts, peanuts and egg may also be present as we process these allergens in our plant or they are used in a facility that our ingredients come from.

Are they suitable for vegetarians?

Yes.

Are they vegetarian/vegan?

Yes, they are vegetarian. But not vegan, due to the butter.

What’s the shelf life?

85 days from production (about three months). This is clearly marked on pack.

Where are they made?

At our factory in Christchurch.

Bumper Brownie FAQ

What flavours are there?

Double Chocolate Brownie.

What are the differences between the Double Chocolate Brownie and White Chocolate Blondie?

The Double Chocolate Brownie has a chocolate dough with large chunks of milk and dark chocolate. Each slice has 17% chocolate.

What do you mean by real chocolate?

We only use real chocolate in our Bumper Brownie. Some competitor products use compound chocolate instead of ‘real’ chocolate. Compound chocolate is a less-expensive chocolate replacement made with vegetable fat instead of cocoa butter. The vegetable fat in chocolate compound is often palm oil based.

Why do some products have a wedge shape?

These products are baked in brownie tins, similar to those that you would use at home. When they are baked there is a natural rise at the edge of the tin. We do not trim this as we know some people love these natural edges.

Why do some Bumper Brownie seem bigger than others?

They are all cut to the same size, although some may appear thicker due to the natural variation between batches.

Do you add any palm oil to Bumper Brownies?

No, we do not add any palm oil. The vegetable oil used in Bumper Brownie is canola oil. We have found that using canola oil in combination with butter enhances the unique texture of these products.

What is different about Bumper Brownies compared to similar products in the market?

Bumper Brownies are made with real ingredients and real chocolate with no added colours or artificial flavours.

What are some serving suggestions for the Brownies?

Bumper Brownies make a great dessert offering, heated and served with berries, ice cream, or yoghurt. They are also great in truffles, cakes and in sundaes – simply layer crumbled pieces of Bumper Brownies with whipped cream, ice cream and chopped nuts.

Can I heat them?

Slices are great warmed up, and are quick and easy to heat in the microwave. Remove from the wrapper and heat on high for 15-20 seconds.

Are they gluten-free?

No.

Do they have nuts?

No, but they are made in a facility that does process nuts. Also, some of the ingredients are processed on lines that also process nuts.

Are there any preservatives?

We do not directly add preservatives to our Bumper Brownies, however there may be trace amounts of sulphites in the glucose syrup we use.

Do they contain allergens?

Are they vegetarians/vegan?

Bumper Brownies are vegetarian, but contain eggs so they would not be suitable for lacto-vegetarians. They are not vegan due to the eggs and butter.
